It is our goal at the Las Cruces Convention Center to provide great customer service for all planners, visitors, and exhibitors that will be our guests. Below are some frequently asked questions to help address some of the initial questions you may have.

GENERAL QUESTIONS:
Is your facility a union facility?
The Las Cruces Convention Center is an open shop venue. Choice of labor for unloading, installing, dismantling and removal is at the discretion of the vendor/exhibitor.
What exclusive services are required in your building?
Food and beverage, utilities services, housekeeping/janitorial and setup are the exclusive services to be ordered directly through Event Services.
What preferred services do you have in your building?
Alliance Audio Visual is the preferred audio visual provider. There are advantages and efficiencies in using AAV.
Does the Center have a sustainability/Green program in place?
Yes, the building is LEED certified and operationally we utilize Global Spectrum’s STEP UP Program to create a sustainable building.

Who is the food and beverage provider at the convention center?
The food and beverage department is run in-house by Global Spectrum. By managing the department in-house this gives our team more flexibility and control over pricing, service, and quality.
Who is the audio visual service provider?
Alliance Audio Visual is our preferred in-house provider of audio visual equipment and services. By utilizing AAV for your event you will experience extraordinary customer service along with the latest technology.

Do you have a room capacity for each room? If yes, where can I find that?
Note that capacities are based on simple room sets and do not take into account any additional components your event may require. Examples of items that can affect room capacities include, but are not limited to, head tables, staging, audio visual components, etc.

Does the Convention Center host weddings?
Yes, the convention center can handle weddings and quinceaneras from 50 to 800 guests. The Las Cruces Convention Center has small, medium, and large spaces to make your event intimate and personalized.

May I bring food and beverage items into the facility?
No outside food/beverage is allowed in the Las Cruces Convention Center. All food must be purchased from the Convention Center.
May I bring helium balloons for my event or to my booth?
Even though it may sound like fun, distribution of helium balloons in the Las Cruces Convention Center is not allowed. If helium balloons are brought into the venue, the labor cost to retrieve the balloons will be charged to the individual customer so that we can continue to keep labor costs down for everyone. For safety reasons, compressed gas cylinders used to inflate balloons must be properly secured to prevent toppling.
May I hang signs for my event?
Yes, all signs weighing less than 250 pounds may be hung by the Las Cruces Convention Center personnel. During move-out, all wires, hooks, screws and hanging material used to hang your signs must be removed. Fire safety laws demand that all electrical and neon signs must conform to national electrical codes as required by the Las Cruces Convention Center. No venue signage (way-finding, Plasma TVs, or advertising signage) may be blocked for any reason.
What is your animal policy?
For the safety and comfort of all our visitors, animals are not permitted in the Las Cruces Convention Center. However, animals that are part of an approved exhibit, display or performance, which absolutely requires the use of an animal, will be permitted on a case by case basis. The customer is responsible for obtaining all appropriate permits. Guide, signal or service dogs (as defined by Law) are allowed in the Las Cruces Convention Center. All sanitary needs for animals are the responsibility of the show or guest.
Do you have microphones in the rooms and exhibit halls?
Alliance Audio Visual can provide you with microphones and all other audio visual needs in the building.
Does the convention center provide signage for our rooms?
We have a Plasma TV system that will display your event's schedule throughout the venue. We also utilize way-finding signs to assist your attendees in finding the appropriate rooms. Additionally, each room has a sign holder outside each meeting room for clients to use. The room signs and any other signage may be provided by the client.
Does the convention center have carts for us to use to take in our equipment?
We have a limited amount of carts and dollies; if additional carts are needed please arrange ahead of time with the Event Services Department.
Can I tour the facility before I plan my event?
Yes, contact the Las Cruces Convention Center Sales Department at 575.526.0100.
Do you have Wi-Fi?
We have complimentary public wireless internet located throughout the building.
How do I arrange for telephone service in my booth?
Las Cruces Convention Center is the exclusive provider for telecommunications services and this can be ordered through the Event Services Department.

Is there an on-site provider for internet/phone/fax/wireless services?
The Las Cruces Convention Center’s Event Services department can arrange for all of your telecommunication needs in-house.

How much does it cost to have concessions open during an event?
We require $500 in minimum sales per day for each concession stand.

May my exhibitors give out food/beverage/liquor samples and/or sell food on the show floor?
Yes, the Las Cruces Convention Center allows for sampling during an event. However there are restrictions as follows:
1. Samples cannot be greater than 2 oz.
2. Samples must be manufactured, processed or distributed by the exhibiting firm.
3. Samples must be related to participation in the event.
4. For public health reasons, restrooms, concession stands and/or facility kitchens may not be used as exhibitor clean-up areas.
5. Costs associated with the disposal of trash, waste, grease, and any other sampling-related item from the exhibitor sampling area are the responsibility of the client.
6. Securing all necessary licenses and permits is the responsibility of the exhibitor.
7. Exhibitors are responsible for complying with all Health Department regulations regarding food sampling, storage, equipment, and temperature. If they are not in compliance or do not obtain the proper permits, the Health Department can shut down their booth.
SECURITY:
What security features are offered at the Las Cruces Convention Center?
The Las Cruces Convention Center provides a safe and secure environment for you and your attendees. Security can be added, within licensed space by contacting the Event Services Department.
May I hire police officers for security during my event?
Yes, Las Cruces Police may be used as supplemental security. Contact the Event Services Department for details.
CONVENTION CENTER SPECIFICS:
Tell me more about your loading dock capacity.
The Las Cruces Convention Center features 4 dock spaces. The dock is designed for loading, unloading, deliveries and emergencies. There is no long term personal vehicle parking in the loading dock, but the convention center is surrounded by adjacent surface lots.
PARKING:
Where can I find parking?
The Las Cruces Convention Center has an dedicated parking lot adjacent to the building with overflow parking located at the corner of Knox St and College Ave on the New Mexico State University Campus.
Can I stay in my RV/motor home overnight at the Convention Center?

The closest commercial airport is the El Paso International Airport [ELP] located a short 45 minute drive from the Las Cruces Convention Center.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Can the convention center accept packages prior to my move-in?
The Las Cruces Convention Center does not operate a shipping and receiving department. All shipments should be sent no earlier than 2 days prior to move-in. Packages being shipped out need to be placed in the designated area on the loading dock, have all proper paperwork and a pick up call must be placed by the shipper. The Las Cruces Convention Center is not responsible for packages being misplaced, lost, shipped, or received therefore this liability falls directly on the shipping and receiving organization/person.
